Research: I work on structural alignments and phylogeny of the Class 1 aminoacyl tRNA synthetase (aaRS) enzyme. The evolution of aaRSs is important for studying the origin of life, but its sequence identity is low. In this case, structure-based analysis can be a strong tool for understanding evolutionary and functional relationships.
